The first time I went to Fells Point was when I was 14 years old. My favorite local band wrote about the Thames Street and South Broadway, and I begged my mom to take me. When I found out about the Fell’s Fun Fest, I knew I had to go. Even though Fells is about a 25-minute drive from Towson, it always reminds me of home.
Rainy Sunday’s Can’t Keep Me Away
On Sunday October 8th, I took the Collegetown Shuttle to my sister’s place in Charles Village, and we took the bus to the Fun Fest. It was cloudy, and there was a chance for rain, but I couldn’t miss it. I hadn’t been to Fells since I turned 21 in April, so I was starting to miss it! I was excited for the music, the art, and most importantly, the food.
Music and Art All Around
One of the things I love about Baltimore is the art and music in the city. I managed to take a photo of a 10-person band playing right at the entrance of the festival. It reminded me of my days in high school where everyone would jam and have a good time together. Artists were selling their art everywhere. There was handmade pottery, paintings, jewelry, and more. I even stepped into a store called Su Casa, where I spotted wood carvings of a guitar and Maryland, two of my favorite things! They even sell cookbooks, which I desperately need!
One place where I always visit when I’m in Fells Point is the Sound Garden. The Sound Garden is a music lover’s paradise. They sell everything music related, record players, vinyl, CDs, and chances are if a band is playing in Baltimore, they’re probably having a signing there. I’ve met many bands by coming to the Sound Garden. It’s a great place run by great people.
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m always looking for new skincare products. If you’re like me, then you might want to check out Randalia Bee Hives. They had a tent at Fell’s Point Fun Fest, and they sold everything skincare, plus more. They had lip balm, lotion, moisturizers, soaps, and even candy! I picked up their Activated Charcoal Mask, and it made my skin feel amazing. If you missed them at the festival, don’t worry, they have an Etsy!
And Now… THE FOOD
I love food. But who doesn’t? There are many restaurants and bars in Fells Point, but I wanted to try food from the food trucks. There was Mexican food, Chinese food, seafood, barbeque, and more. So many options, how do I choose!? I ended up getting some BBQ from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, which was a great choice. I had a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, and cole slaw. It was delicious, filling, and a perfect way to end my time at the festival.
Fells Point All Year Round
Fells Point isn’t just great in the fall, it’s great all year round. There are so many shops, restaurants, and bars to visit, making it a perfect place to spend time with your family, like how I spent mine with my sister. This was a great first time at the Fells Point Fall Festival, and I can’t wait to go again next year!
