Founded in 1900 as a training institute for African-American elementary school teachers, Coppin State University is named in honor of education pioneer Fanny Jackson Coppin. This 115-year-old urban, liberal arts university provides academic programs in nursing, business, criminal justice, education, STEM disciplines, and behavioral & social sciences. Coppin is a proud member of the University System of Maryland.
