Maryland Institute College of Art

Put Your Creativity to Work
For nearly 185 years, top ranked Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) has assembled some of the most talented students and faculty from across the nation and around the world in a creatively energized, intellectually stimulating, learning environment. MICA’s programs balance challenging studio practice with rigorous liberal arts coursework and are marked by a commitment to developing creative vision, innovation, leadership, and social responsibility. MICA’s programs of study have been designed to prepare students for contemporary approaches to art-making and thinking through a wide choice of courses and interdisciplinary options. MICA students can uniquely customize their studies in support of creative exploration and career goals by combining a major area of study with a studio concentration and liberal arts minor. Programs of study can be further individualized through the addition of internships, professional project-based research, study abroad, and community-based social engagement. A professionally active faculty – including artists who are pushing the limits of both traditional and emerging media – offer a full range of curricular options for the contemporary artist, designer, filmmaker, or art educator. Professional development is embedded in each program of study and is supplemented by the highly successful services of MICA’s Joseph Meyerhoff Center for Career Development, which specializes in preparing students for art and art-related careers.
