University of Maryland, Baltimore

We are UMB!
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is the state’s public health, law, and human services university, training Maryland’s front-line providers to improve wellness, advance justice, and strengthen families and communities. UMB confers most of the professional practice doctoral degrees awarded each year in Maryland. People from West Africa to West Baltimore benefit from UMB’s research, be it vaccine and drug development, cancer treatment, heart repair, or strategies that stabilize families and stimulate social cohesion. At the University of Maryland BioPark, Baltimore’s largest biotech cluster, scientific discoveries are translated into critical health solutions. UMB’s faculty, staff, and students are deeply engaged in the community, contributing 2 million hours of volunteer service each year and delivering $40 million in uncompensated care. Our students learn as collaborative partners across professions to be clinicians and caregivers, advocates and experts, excelling from the trauma center to the courtroom, the clinic to the community school.
