Catherine's Story

Catherine Rinaldo has spent four years as a student in Baltimore, exploring its neighborhoods, shops and restaurants. It wasn’t until she participated in the Baltimore Collegetown LeaderShape program that she began to truly understand the needs of the city.

“I learned of so many ways to get involved with Baltimore,” says Catherine, “in the end I chose to address a small community where I could really make an impact.” Her vision for Baltimore is to create a community where there are no social stigmas surrounding pregnant teens and teen mothers. She wants all women to access available resources without feeling pressures from society.

For Catherine, the opportunity to give back to Baltimore has been extremely rewarding. She tutors students through the Johns Hopkins Waverly Student Tutorial Initiative and she volunteered at the International Rescue Committee, helping refugees acclimate to Baltimore, alongside her LeaderShape peers.
