Annie's Story

Annie Caporellie admits that she rarely ventured into Baltimore during her first three years of college. It wasn’t until she accepted an internship with United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM) and participated in the Baltimore Collegtown LeaderShape program that she first felt a connection to the city.

Inspired by UWCM’s motto, LIVE UNITED, Annie has adopted this as her mission. She is enthusiastic about pooling the talents and time of area college students to achieve something truly great. Annie believes most students will jump at the opportunity to give back if they are provided the opportunitiesto do so. Her vision for Baltimoreis to give all college students the tools to connect to their community through service.

As the student outreach intern for UWCM, Annie is the first point of contact for student engagement in the Baltimore area. With the support of United Way and a network of friends from the Baltimore Collegetown LeaderShape program, Annie is on her way to achieving several ambitious community service goals. She organized a team of students to sort toys forthe Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree Drive and she planned a local alternative spring break day of action. Annie is also working to register central Maryland as the first intercollegiate Student United Way.
