Student Ambassador, Mira Coffey, describes springtime on campus.
It’s that time of the year again. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the end of
the semester is in sight. It’s hard to know how you’re supposed to feel at this time of the year as
the beautiful weather is like a breath of fresh air after the dark and chilly winter, but as soon as
you start to relax you are reminded of the piles of homework you have. Luckily Goucher has the
perfect solution for this. Every spring Goucher students come together to celebrate GIG, or Got
into Goucher day. GIG begins with the ringing of the chapel bells, this signals the end of classes
and the start of carnival rides, games, food, and music. It’s a perfect opportunity to blow off
some steam while enjoying some good food and music.
This year GIG could not have been more perfect. Every GIG is special in it's own way, however
It was 80 degrees and just beautiful outside. Everywhere you looked you saw people laughing
and relaxing in the sun. While GIG didn’t make finals disappear it gave us a space where we
could forget for a little while, so when it was time to focus again we’d be well rested and ready to tackle the challenges that lay ahead.
