Hi there! Castalia here, sharing a few of my favorite things to do in the fall. Granted, I’d do these any season, but trust me, these will brighten your life when it’s getting chillier and busier and you need a semester pick-me-up.

This coffee shop is just warm. The welcoming staff, art-filled brick and yellow walls, and spacious upstairs make my midterm studying feel easier. Also, their nutty coffee and made-with-love pastries are a fall necessity.
A silver lining to days getting shorter: we can watch sunsets earlier! One thing I’ve come to appreciate much more during the pandemic is picnics, and seeing the harbor from Fed Hill never gets old.
Sometimes, it is too cold for ice cream— not yet. Throw on a thicker sweater and head to Bmore Licks for some soft serve or homemade ice cream. I’m a huge chocolate fan myself, but they’ve got so many yummy fall flavors I plan to try. Grab a scoop at their Fed Hill or Patterson Park location!
If you’re feeling up to a small day trip, Harper’s Ferry is only an hour away! I went on a weekend last fall with my friends and it was fantastic! Basically a quaint old town with rich history and beautiful foliage.
For parent’s weekend or a wholesome friend excursion, get out into one of Maryland’s gorgeous farms! Pick a pumpkin, get lost in a corn maze, run around in a field, perhaps get some grub. The vibes are immaculate.
