As the semester winds down and we’re all stressing about finals, I am here to simply ask:
How is your mental?
In the last two months, many of us students have experienced some of the oddest events of our college careers. Graduating seniors have lost out on their final semester of college, students have had internships canceled, and there has been a rocky transition to online classes for many people. All of this is happening on top of the anxiety and stress related to the global pandemic.
Handling family issues, school responsibilities, and more is a lot to bear all at one time. This combination causes a load of stress that can bring down our mental state. That is why I have compiled a list of tasks to help everyone engage in some self-care and encourage you to build your mental state back up!
Create a routine to avoid feeling stagnant.
Read a book to keep your mind active.
Go out on your patio, porch, or backyard (if available) to get some fresh air. Or, go for a walk around the block.
Relax in different parts of your home so that you don’t feel stuck.
Listen to your favorite album! Some of my current favorites are Hot Pink by Doja Cat and -Ugh, those feels again by Snoh Alegra.
Limit the amount of work you complete on a daily basis so that you do not overwork yourself and your brain.
Take breaks in between work to recharge.
Make a to-do list so that you can easily see what needs to be completed.
Participate in some fun activities listed in our Adventures of Quarantine post to unwind.
Make a cup of tea.
Every tip may not work for you, but it is imperative to find a form of self-care that helps you relax, especially now. Your mental health is just as important as all other parts of your health.
