As the semester winds down, so does my time at Baltimore Collegetown Network. As an intern here, I have gotten the opportunity to share some of my Baltimore wisdom with all of you all, help support various events we put on, and develop a great appreciation for Baltimore as (in my opinion) the best college town in America. I’ll be going into my last semester in Baltimore in January and while that’s terrifying, I’m determined to make the most of my time in Baltimore – like finally going duck pin bowling or to the National Aquarium.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, there’s still a little bit of time in the semester and Baltimore has a lot of holiday festivities going on. If you need a break from finals or are just looking for some holiday spirit, here are my top picks:
If you like Christmas lights, this is the one for you. Once a year, Hampden’s 34th street gets decked out in all the Christmas lights and decorations. It really is spectacular! Once the sun goes down, head on over and be dazzled by all the lights then walk back up Chestnut Avenue and stop by The Charmery and warm up with a nice cup of hot chocolate.
Be transported to the Christmas Markets of Europe by heading down to the Inner Harbor and walking through the cozy Christmas lights, booths of different vendors perfect for gift shopping, and warm up with a boot mug full of hot chocolate or mulled wine. When I was in Belgium last year, the Christmas markets were one of the highlights of my time–I’m excited to go down to the Inner Harbor to get a glimpse back into my European life.
While you’re at the Inner Harbor, grab some friends and skate a few laps around the Pandora Ice Rink. What’s winter without ice skating?
Dec. 14 & 15 at R. House
Each month, R.House hosts the Greater Goods Market which benefits a local cause and supports small businesses and artists. This month’s market is holiday themed and will be a great stop for last minute shopping. Be sure to treat yourself to some delicious food at R. House while you’re at it!
If you’re looking to stay in and cozy with your friends, decorating sugar cookies or a gingerbread house is always my personal favorite. Also, all of the Netflix Original holiday movies are cheesy AF but so perfect for the holiday season.
Alright, that’s all for now. It’s been a pleasure writing to you all and wish you all the best with finals and the rest of the semester!
