Baltimore Collegetown Network, the leading organization in Baltimore dedicated to bringing the 13 area colleges and universities together with government, business, and community leaders to market Baltimore as a vibrant place to live and learn, is launching a search for a new executive director.

Current Executive Director Kirsten Brinlee has announced that she is leaving Baltimore Collegetown by mid-February 2023 to be closer to family in the southwest. “Over the next 4 months, I will be working closely with the Governing Board of Directors to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible,” Brinlee said. “I have immensely enjoyed my eight years with Baltimore Collegetown and am grateful to the staff and board for their support during this transition.” Under Kirsten’s leadership, the organization launched incredible programs to connect students and member institutions to the local community, including Collegetown Fellowship and Collegetown Underground, programs which cultivate Baltimore’s next generation of civic leaders. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, she strategically led the growth of Collegetown’s admissions-focused initiatives, like the Collegetown and Gown Tour, and rebranded its signature campaign, the Baltimore Look Book.

Baltimore Collegetown’s Governing Board Chair, Dr. Yvette Mozie-Ross, Vice Provost for Enrollment Management of UMBC says that the Governing Board of Directors is looking forward to embarking on a new chapter of the organization’s growth. According to Mozie-Ross, “We are sorry to say goodbye to Kirsten Brinlee and we thank her for her immense contributions to Collegetown. Kirsten has been a strong, strategic leader, and has played a significant role in transforming Collegetown to our most visible position that we have ever had,” said Mozie-Ross. “She has done a great job moving us forward in our mission to recruit and attract students to Baltimore, the fuel that drives the economic engine for our region. We are grateful that she is remaining with us until February 2023 to help us in the transition to a new Executive Director.” The organization will complete its current strategic plan this year, allowing the next leader to guide Collegetown into the next chapter of growth.

Baltimore Collegetown has retained the search firm, HR Strategy Group, LLC, to conduct a comprehensive search to find its next executive director. Information regarding the search can be found at: Executive Director Search.

Since 1999, the Baltimore Collegetown Network brings area colleges and universities – including 120,000 students and $17 billion in economic activity – into a consortium that benefits each institution and the region as a whole. We articulate the message that Baltimore is a great college town and create programs that strengthen that claim. Our projects and partnerships attract, engage, and retain students, raise the profile of Baltimore as a college destination, and help colleges share resources.
