"I was drawn to Baltimore because of the passion and pride the people of its citizens."

Alicia's Story

Alicia, a former competitive baton twirler and majorette, was drawn to school in Baltimore because of the “passion and pride the people of Baltimore have.” She loves being around people who feel strongly about making Baltimore a better place and it is one of the reasons she spends her free time giving back to the city. Although she's an Ohio native, some of Alicia’s fondest childhood memories take place in Baltimore. She loved visiting the Patapsco Flea Market with her aunt and grandmother.

When she's not studying for her challenging engineering curriculum, Alicia is very involved in student activities at Morgan State.  She serves as a co-technical project lead in the MSU chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Alicia applied for the Collegetown Fellowship to deepen her Baltimore knowledge and meet students from other institutions in the surrounding area. She hopes to continue learning about Baltimore and stay abreast about how she can continue to be engaged in combating the city's issues.
