Claudette has lived in Baltimore her entire life and has never had a desire to leave. Baltimore was the first place she called home, which makes it hard for her to spend time away. Claudette has a passion for helping people and building relationships. She currently serves as a community board member in the neighborhood she grew up in, Chinquapin Park, and as a board member of the Marian House, which provides transitional and permanent supportive housing programs for homeless women and their children. In addition to her doctorate, Claudette is a full-time employee at the University of Baltimore and works part-time as a therapeutic behavioral specialist for youth at the Brighter Stronger Foundation.
Claudette applied to be a Collegetown Fellow to expand her knowledge of community involvement and community organizations, and build partnerships with those organizations. She hopes to learn how to succeed in cultivating community, as she hopes to do one day in Baltimore. Claudette believes knowledge is power and is using the opportunity with Baltimore Collegetown to continue learning for herself and to better serve her hometown.
