When Robert Penn sees a vacant lot in Baltimore, he envisions a community garden or park. He says, “Baltimore is a fun, quirky city that thrives on diversity. I want to create community spaces that address the needs of our neighborhoods while reflecting Baltimore’s identity and creativity.”
Robert is a community site leader at Western and Dunbar high schools with MICA’s Community Art Service Program. He mentors students and helps them prepare for college. The experience has given him a greater appreciation of challenges the communities face, inspiring him to develop creative solutions.
After participating in Baltimore Collegetown LeaderShape, Robert has a deeper understanding of his own leadership strengths and a more defined vision for how he can apply his talents and energies to urban communities.
