Liz Tran’s vision is for Baltimore youth to have access to wellness activities and the support they need to make healthy choices. “I want to instill in young people that a healthy lifestyle can lead to lasting benefits ranging from improvement in academics to self-esteem,” says Liz.
Health and fitness are part of Liz’s success as a student, athlete, and leader. “It has been something that has changed my way of thinking, lifted my mood, and inspired me to live a healthier life.” Liz plays on the Notre Dame of Maryland NCAA tennis team. She also formed a workout group on her campus; the girls meet weekly and encourage each other to reach their goals for fitness, academics, and more.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle has not only given Liz the energy, but the time management skills she needed to participate in three college internships. She was chosen to be part of the competitive Governor’s Summer Internship Program, working in the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism. She also worked with the Baltimore Collegetown Network, monitoring and tracking the shuttle network that connects area campuses. Liz is currently the communications intern for the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.
After graduation, Liz plans to work at a nonprofit with an emphasis on leadership development for young adults.
