Faras Aamir wants to help make Baltimore an inclusive place where everyone can work together and improve this great city. Faras envisions a city where people’s differences are glorified and celebrated not ignored or viewed as the cause of division.
Faras works with refugee families in Baltimore as a mentor for the International Rescue Committee. He helps with English lessons and American lifestyle adaptation. Faras shares his volunteer experiences via social media in hopes of exposing his friends and followers to the struggles refugees face as they immigrate to the United States.
Baltimore Collegetown LeaderShape introduced Faras to students from across Baltimore and helped him better understand how to plan for the future. “Collegetown Leadershape is not about what you write down on a piece of paper, it is about using the skills you gained to position yourself as the one who speaks up or the one who proposes a new idea.”
