Azaria Lanig’s vision is for the Baltimore education system to incorporate visual, sensory, and kinesthetic learning strategies including out-of-classroom travel experiences. Growing up, Azaria’s family traveled often and the experience exposed her to a diverse array of people and cultures. She believes students can benefit from travel the same way she did, and that time outside of the classroom gives students the chance to understand their role in the community.
Baltimore Collegetown LeaderShape helped Azaria collaborate with students from colleges and universities across the region. Throughout the program, she was able to create and foster many close friendships with fellow participants who supported her vision work. “Without this program, I would never have had the opportunity to bond with people outside of Goucher.”
