Development & Marketing Internship

Internship Responsibilities

Based in Baltimore, the Development & Marketing role is a stipend internship with a commitment of at least twelve months in Baltimore City, 10-12 hours a week. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, organization and basic technical skills.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

  • Support Development & Marketing Director with various development tasks to promote Back on My Feet and meet fundraising goals (Such as
  • Create, schedule, and handle the Baltimore Chapter’s ongoing social media presence
  • Assist with fundraising events, helping coordinate logistics, communications, event execution and follow up
  • Database management to ensure all donor data is kept up to date with Google Docs, Salesforce, and Constant Contact (which database?)
  • Interview for and develop member, volunteer, and supporter stories
  • Communication to donors including thank you letters and monthly newsletters
  • Assisting with the creative strategy around event planning and outreach
  • Other duties as assigned

Will need to be available for the following major events:

  • Saturday April 7, 2018 – Oldfields Half Marathon + Relay
  • Saturday June 2, 2018 – Baltimore 10 Miler
  • Friday August 3, 2018 – Sneaks Come Out at Night Race
  • Friday October 19, 2018 & Saturday October 20, 2018 – Baltimore Running Festival
  • 10th Annual Gala – date TBD. 2017’s date was Wednesday November 8, 2017

Skill Set Required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Upper-level (Junior or Senior) college students and Master-level students welcome to apply; Bachelor’s degree in related field (communications, marketing, non-profit management) preferred
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience needed in social media campaigns, strategy, and engagement with platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks/deadlines and prioritize effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Some experience with InDesign, Salesforce, Constant Contact, Rallybound, and photography preferred but not required

  • High energy, results oriented, organized individual
  • Unequivocal passion for the organization, mission and the members we serve
  • Comfortable with a flexible i.e. not 9-5pm working schedule – needing to attend one morning run a week at 5:30AM
  • Desire to attend night and weekend program events as required
  • A proactive, assertive and hands-on individual who is self-motivated and requires limited direction
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt quickly to a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Team-oriented and willing to contribute to overarching team/Chapter goals
  • Unquestionable integrity and highest ethical standards
  • Personal experience with running or other related fitness activity preferred

Back on My Feet combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. Operating in 12 major cities coast-to-coast, Back on My Feet recruits members (those experiencing homelessness) at homeless and residential facilities and begins with a commitment to run three days a week in the early morning. Every $1 invested in Back on My Feet returns nearly $2.50 to the local community through increased economic output from employment and reduction in costs for shelter, medical services, incarceration and drug and alcohol treatment.
