Ripple Effect is seeking a highly-motivated Human Resources Intern (HR Intern) to provide support to the Corporate Administration, HR, and Recruiting Teams.

Position Overview

  • Duty Location: Rockville, MD – Ripple Effect Headquarters
  • Position Information: Temporary
  • Hourly Rate: $12-$15
  • Vacancy: One Opening
  • Security Level: A security clearance is not required to apply.  Applicants, once hired, may be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Travel Required: This position may require occasional local travel (Washington, D.C. area) for work-related meetings
  • Relocation Expenses: No relocation expenses may be authorized for this position

Job Description

Ripple Effect is looking for an individual with an interest in Human Resources and/or Administrative support to work on a range of projects related to HR administration, recruiting, onboarding/orientation, and employee payroll & benefits. The ideal candidate will be a Maryland college graduate with strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Because this individual will have access to personal information, discretion and confidentiality are a must. We are looking for someone who is comfortable learning new software and knows how to harness technology to accomplish project goals.

Specific Duties may include:

Human Resource Administration 

  • Update our internal databases with new employee information, including contact details and employment forms
  • Perform quality control check on data to confirm information is accurate and up-to-date in HR-related systems and documents
  • Gather payroll data (e.g., working hours, pay rate, leave requests, etc.)
  • Review and distribute company policies, in digital formats or hard copies, to new employees
  • Address employee queries about benefits
  • Maintain SharePoint sites by updating and adding data (e.g., curating documents, recording materials, and inputting new hire information)
  • Prepare HR-related reports, as needed
  • Other projects and duties, as assigned

Recruiting

  • Maintain SharePoint database of resources for recruiting team (e.g., position descriptions, interview questions, job posting boards, etc.)
  • Post, update, and remove job advertisements from job boards and careers pages
  • Maintain records of applicants in appropriate web-based systems
  • Directly communicate with applicants for the purpose of gathering paperwork and information for the hiring team
  • Collect information and feedback to properly document the process
  • Other projects and duties related to supporting the recruiting process, as assigned

Administrative

  • Schedule and provide logistical information for project team activities (e.g., quarterly lunches, professional development seminars, recognition for birthdays/work anniversaries, etc.)
  • Edit and file electronic documents
  • Other projects and duties, as assigned

Skill Set Required

REQUIREMENTS

Basic Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Demonstrated strength in oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized, efficient, and extremely detail-oriented
  • Ability to prioritize among multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Must be on-site at Ripple Headquarters during business hours

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field
  • Recent Maryland college graduate who meets the MTIP funding eligibility
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise and adept at problem-solving
  • Passion for their project and desire to learn new things
  • Experience with cloud software (i.e., SharePoint)

Semester: Spring (Feb - May), Winter (Jan)
Year: 2019
Hours per week: 20 or more hours
Workdays: Monday - Friday
Pay: Yes, $12.00 - $15.00 / hour salary
