Internship Responsibilities

Paragon Bioservices is seeking qualified interns and student co-ops to support rapid growth of the company. Our internships and co-ops provide in-depth, targeted on-the-job training and ongoing mentorship to help future talent maximize their potential.

The Intern, Facilities and Engineering will report to the Senior Process Engineer, Facilities and Engineering and will assist in the overall facilities mechanical and process needs in both a GMP and non-GMP environment. Specifically, the intern will assist in the execution of preventive maintenance, repairs, installation and calibrations for GMP compliance on building utilities, HVAC, control systems, water and steam systems and process equipment.


Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Work with the Engineering Department to ensure that all facility utilities are 100% operational and maintained in accordance with cGMP guidelines maintaining departmental industry compliance in support of GMP Manufacturing, Product Development administrative and laboratory activities
• Participate with Facility team and contractors on training and enforce safety awareness and practices
• Recommend solutions and implement appropriate corrective actions for major and complex maintenance issues
• Work with the Administrator of Blue Mountain calibration and maintenance software to improve work-flows
• Assist in planning for calibration and preventative maintenance of all GMP equipment, lab equipment, and utilities. Utilities to include clean steam, WFI, RO/DI water, boilers, compressed gases, HVAC systems, electrical, life safety, and emergency power system (UPS)
• Work to improve and add equipment to the remote Critical Equipment Monitoring System
• Generate SOPs, deviations, and change control as assigned for related Facilities systems
• Revise SOPs as required for updated systems and procedures
• Escort and assist facility support contractors, including security, pest control, waste management, fire systems, and landscaping
• Perform risk assessments
• Update mechanical process documentation and operating instructions as assigned
• Review facility drawings and recommend corrections and updates as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Skill Set Required

Currently enrolled in Engineering degree program
• Basic knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, boilers, water systems and compressed gases required
• Ability to learn and understand the Building Management software
• Comfortable writing department operational/maintenance SOPs
• Willingness to put internal customer needs first
• Great attention to detail leaving no loose ends in workload
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
• High energy level and a positive outlook coupled with the requisite “can do” attitude and a willingness to do what it takes to achieve personal and organizational goals and overcome obstacles
• Willingness to think outside of the box and adapt best practices to increase efficiencies
• Ability to adapt in a constantly evolving environment
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in areas of responsibility
