Ravens Bookmobile Associate

Internship Responsibilities

The Maryland Book Bank distributes over 450,000 books per year to children and educators in under-resourced neighborhoods. 

Gain valuable experience at a local non-profit organization while working hands-on with the community. Responsibilities include organizing book inventory and incoming book donations, sorting book donations for the Bookmobile, managing volunteer groups at the Book Bank, independently attending weekly Bookmobile school and outreach visits, and general administrative duties.

The Maryland Book Bank is located in the Baltimore Collaborative Warehouse at 1794 Union Ave.  You will be working alongside and gaining valuable experience from five other Non-Profit Organizations that support youth, families, and educators in Baltimore.

Skill Set Required

Successful Bookmobile Interns will have a passion for non-profit service and literacy efforts.

Collaborative approach to the workplace and flexibility.

A valid drivers license and a clean driving record.

Internship Location

Baltimore, MD


Semester: Summer (Jun - Aug)
Year: 2022
Hours per week: 10-20 hours
Workdays: Bookmobile typically visits occur Mon-Sat beginning at 10 am. The schedule is flexible and can be changed to accommodate many schedules
Pay: Yes, $500 stipend
Authorization Requirements: U.S. Citizen/U.S. National

Additional Information

We are looking for someone that is comfortable driving our Bookmobile to school visits as well as independently covering the Book Bank during normal operating hours. 

The Bookmobile is the size of a small U-Haul truck and does not require a special license.

Training to properly operate the Bookmobile will be provided.

The Maryland Book Bank distributes free children's books to children, families, and educators across Maryland. We work with programs such as Raising A Reader, The Literacy Lab, Reading Partners and the Grade level Reading Coalition as well as foundations and government agencies. We serve over 50,000 children and 660 organizations each year and distribute over 200,000 books per year in our Book Bank and Ravens Bookmobile.
