Red Cross: Disaster Recovery Team Member

Internship Responsibilities

  • Assist the Disaster Cycle Services team by supporting the disaster recovery of individuals, families, and communities through casework and recovery planning;
  • Conduct client interviews, both initial and follow-up conversations;
  • Assist with recovery planning, problem-solving and advocacy on request;
  • Provide clients with information and referrals to community partners;
  • Learn about the full cycle of disaster services including preparation, response and recovery within the local and regional community.

Skill Set Required

  • Strong interpersonal skills, kind, caring, resourceful and knowledgeable;
  • Good computer skills; able to learn new systems;
  • Committed to the mission and principles of the American Red Cross;
  • Able to work well in stressful situations and in a team-oriented setting.

Public Health, Human Services, Social Work and Psychology

Semester: Spring (Feb - May), Summer (Jun - Aug), Fall (Sep - Dec), Ongoing
Year: 2019-2020
Hours per week: 10-20 hours
Workdays: Some weekly Monday- Friday 9am-5pm availability needed; Flexible
