Baltimore Collegetown Network Communities of Practice provide a structure and ongoing opportunities for professionals at our 12 member institutions to network, share best practices and resources, participate in professional development, and collaborate on shared issues and concerns.

B'CaUSE
Baltimore Colleges and Universities for a Sustainable Environment
Baltimore Colleges and Universities for a Sustainable Environment (B’CaUSE) is a group of sustainability directors, facilities staff, educators, and other campus representatives who care about environmental initiatives. The mission of B’CaUSE is to foster collaboration, share ideas and best practices, and facilitate joint projects to advance campus and regional sustainability goals.

BRAVE
Bringing Respect an Advocacy for Violence-Free Environments Consortium
The BRAVE consortium received a DOJ Office on Violence Against Women Campus Program grant to further develop a comprehensive coordinated community response that focuses on a survivor-centered, trauma-informed approach to students who experience sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking.

Case Managers
Case managers have similar needs and face similar challenges. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, this group has shifted and grown to include peer support and transitioned to bi-weekly meetings to share resources, provide intentional interactions for those missing connections, and discuss the changing nature of our work.

Collegetown and Gown Tour Committee
Admissions counselors work together to plan the Collegetown and Gown Tour, which takes place in-person each November and virtually each February. The tour invites high school counselors to tour 10 private and public institutions over a period of 4 days. Counselors have an informative, interactive experience that highlights each campus’ unique identity as well as the many elements of the region that makes Baltimore a great college town.

Human Resources
The Human Resources Community of Practice meets regularly throughout the year to network, share ideas, and learn. Meetings are open to all Human Resources staff at the Collegetown campuses. In addition to regular meetings, the HR Community of Practice participates in frequent professional development workshops designed to meet the needs of this community. Past workshops have focused on Title IX, HR Law and Regulatory Policies, and Employee Engagement.

Marketing, Communications, and Admissions
A Shared Mission
The admissions directors and marketing and communications staff work together to spread the word that Baltimore is a great college town. Colleges make Baltimore a vibrant city and collectively offer many academic, social, and professional opportunities to the region’s 120,000 students.

Shuttle Committee
Connect, Explore!
The Collegetown Shuttle is a free transportation service for students, staff, and faculty at three participating schools in the Baltimore region. It travels between the three campuses, as well as Penn Station, Towson Town Center, Kenilworth, and Towson Place Shopping Center. The shuttle committee is comprised of transportation professionals at the three campuses who come together often to support the Collegetown Shuttle program. Every June, the committee convenes for a shuttle retreat to discuss changes and plans for the next academic year.

Student Activities
The Student Activities Directors Community of Practice convenes to discuss shared interests among directors of student activities, such as popular speakers and entertainment acts, student engagement programs, and other ways to enhance the college student experience.

Vice Presidents of Student Affairs
The Vice Presidents of Student Affairs meet throughout the year to network, share ideas and resources, and discuss hot button issues. This group also identifies professional development, learning, and training needs for Student Affairs staff at their institutions, which is often the basis for Baltimore Collegetown workshops and trainings.
