A BITE OF SOMETHING NEW

Why did you choose Baltimore for college?

I chose Baltimore for the opportunities brought by living in a city at the heart of international trade and business and the palpable sense of community all around. I knew I wanted to live in a city full of culture, sports, good food, and amazing art which is exactly what I found Baltimore to be.

Why did you choose your major?

I have always had a deep love for the planet, which prompted me to pursue a degree in Sustainability Management at Loyola. It was the first of its kind in the state of Maryland, and also one of few in existence in the United States. Being surrounded by international organizations and attending conferences throughout the City of Baltimore also encouraged me to study International Business.

What do you love most about Baltimore and your school?

I love the historic architecture and beauty of the city brought about by historical societies and preservation efforts. I have always had a deep fascination with old American cities, so being able to live in one that is so well preserved and  regularly visit sites like the Evergreen Museum, the Flag and Star Spangled Banner Museum, and Edgar Allen Poe's house has been awesome.

At Loyola, I love the opportunities that it has brought me through direct relationships with alumni and professors. With an average class size of only 20 students and a deep focus on experiential learning and service rooted in Jesuit identity, I am always learning skills that are relevant and applicable while being able to explore interdisciplinary opportunities. Being able to connect in meaningful ways with my professors and peers has fueled my passion for learning and given me a plethora of opportunities from unique scholarships, job opportunities, mentorship, and research positions.

If someone were to visit you for a weekend, what part of Baltimore would you absolutely have to show them?

Our first stop to eat would of course be Miss Shirley's Cafe, followed by a visit to the Baltimore Museum of Art for the evening. Depending on the time of year, I would absolutely have to take them to an Orioles game and sit in the Bird Bath section to get the real Baltimore sports experience. Some notable spots I would try to squeeze in would be Hampden, Fells Point, and Charles Village to do some shopping, eating, and find cute dogs all around!
