Internship Responsibilities
Visit Baltimore is seeking a highly motivated, resourceful college student to join our marketing and communications team as an intern for the winter/spring 2026 semester. The internship offers a unique opportunity to support a wide range of storytelling, content creation, public relations and community-focused marketing initiatives that ensure Baltimore’s authentic voices are in the forefront.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills in content writing, social media, digital media, photo and video editing, public relations, marketing and more. Students will leave with valuable real-world experience in a fast-paced setting and a deep understanding of the role marketing plays in the tourism industry. The intern reports to both the Senior Content Coordinator and the Corporate Communications Manager, though they will have an opportunity to work with and learn from other members of the marketing and communications team.
Possible Responsibilities May Include:
- Collect, organize and evaluate story submissions from community members and identify opportunities to share them through Visit Baltimore’s digital and marketing channels.
- Track social media sentiment and engagement on Visit Baltimore’s platforms, providing regular insights to the marketing and communications team.
- Lead the creation of a new visitor experience passport and assist with developing a marketing plan to promote the pass across Visit Baltimore's platforms.
- Assist with creating, editing, and organizing itineraries for journalists, influencers, and media partners ensuring that experiences align with brand messaging and campaign themes.
- Attend events such as photo/video shoots, press conferences and community activations to support on-site needs across departments, including assisting with social media content collection and event logistics.
- Support the marketing and communications team in collecting, organizing and reporting on content as it relates to various campaigns.
- Assist the Senior Content Coordinator and Corporate Communications Manager with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
This internship is ideal for college juniors or seniors interested in pursuing a career in tourism, marketing, advertising, social media, journalism or PR/communications. Given that this internship requires a strong ability to find and tell compelling stories, priority will be given to writing-intensive majors such as English, marketing, communications and journalism.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to work 15-20 hours or 2 days per week, with at least one day in person at the Visit Baltimore office or an offsite event.
- Strong writing and proofreading abilities across formats (social, editorial, email, etc.). Familiarity with AP Style is preferred.
- General awareness or excitement to learn more about social media trends and best practices on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
- Ability to learn and navigate software tools and content management systems.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage and catalog digital assets, story submissions, and itinerary content.
- Comfort using spreadsheets or databases to track engagement, media requests, and content performance.
- Demonstrated time management skills and comfortability managing multiple projects at once.
- A love for Baltimore and an appreciation for its diversity and arts and culture scene.
- Passion for telling local, authentic stories.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Access to reliable transportation and willingness to attend occasional events on evenings or weekends.
- Dependability and professionalism are a must.

Additional Information
This internship is compensated at $15 per hour and is also available for college credit. Interns are expected to complete a minimum of 120 total hours over the course of the internship. Scheduling is flexible depending on the candidate’s availability and academic needs.
Interns should expect to dedicate 15-20 hours per week, with at least one day spent in person at the Visit Baltimore office or at an offsite event. Reimbursement for parking and public transportation is available.
