PNTS is seeking an intern to support the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail. The intern will help inventory and prioritize updates to trail sites and wayside panels, maintain trail databases, and assist with the graphic design of new interpretive wayside panels.

Application Requirements

• Applicants must be between the ages of 19–32 and able to commit approximately 5 hours per week to the internship. 
• Attend both Orientation sessions on December 14, 2026 and January 12, 2027.
• Work on assigned project between December 14, 2026 and June 30, 2027. Project work will be supervised by PNTS staff and include regular check-in calls to support project completion. 
• Participate in a presentation at the 2027 Hike the Hill OR International Trails Summit (which PNTS will cover the whole travel costs) During these events, help assist PNTS staff with attendee registration, creation of materials, and creating live social media content. 
• Attend 3 out of the 5 virtual sessions.
• Complete 5 hours of volunteer work that benefits a trail, historic site, or public land area in your local community.

Passion for trails, thoughtful historical storytelling, and community engagement is most important. Strong communication and organizational skills are preferred, and graphic design experience is a plus but not required.
