Internship Responsibilities

Internship Responsibilities

We are looking for a creative photo intern who can bring our stories to life through visuals and across platforms - whether it’s through Instagram, TikTok, videography, or other digital media. We’re seeking someone who thrives on collaboration, embraces challenges, and thinks outside the box. You’ll work closely with our editors, but you’ll also have the freedom to pitch and pursue your own projects. From quick-turn daily assignments to a personal “passion project,” you’ll develop skills in digital storytelling, sourcing, and interviewing. Plus, you’ll be paired with a mentor and attend weekly workshops that will help you sharpen your skills. If you’re eager to engage a new generation of readers with compelling visual storytelling, we’d love to see what you can do!

Interns will be responsible for producing content – photos, stories, and social media posts – for the local digital publication. Interns will receive assignments from editors but should also be able to generate and pitch their own interesting story ideas. We are looking for people who are quick thinkers, energetic, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. They should be able to come up with “outside the box ideas” and have strong digital storytelling skills. Each intern will pitch a “passion project,” whether it be an enterprise story, photo collage or Instagram story, to be completed by the end of the internship. Interns will be assigned a mentor and attend weekly sessions on subjects such as sourcing and interview skills.
