Internship Responsibilities
The Business Development Intern will research and vet prospective companies and founders against Valkyrie’s Ideal Customer Profile (ICP).
- Create concise prospect profiles (1 page or less) summarizing fit, needs, and red flags
- Submit prospects for founder review and incorporate go/no-go feedback
- Execute approved outreach using established scripts and SOPs (email, LinkedIn, follow-ups)
- Engage responsive prospects with structured qualifying questions
- Schedule qualified strategy sessions on the founder’s calendar
- Prepare brief discovery summaries in advance of scheduled calls
- Track outreach activity, responses, and outcomes to support continuous improvement
- Learn and refine qualification judgment through regular feedback and coaching
Qualifications
- Rising junior, senior, or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Entrepreneurship, Information Systems, or a related field
- Strong written communication skills and comfort with direct professional outreach Interest in sales development, business development, consulting, or entrepreneurship
- Ability to research companies and decision-makers using public sources (LinkedIn, company websites, etc.)
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple prospects or tasks at once
- Comfortable following structured processes and incorporating feedback
- Strong judgment and willingness to ask questions when unsure
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment
- Professional, reliable, and respectful of confidentiality
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with CRM systems, spreadsheets, or basic sales/marketing tools (e.g., HubSpot, Airtable, Google Sheets, Excel)
- Comfort conducting online research and synthesizing information into concise summaries
- Interest in outbound outreach, lead qualification, or sales development processes
- Ability to follow scripts while still communicating naturally and professionally
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot patterns or inconsistencies
- Comfort asking clarifying questions and making judgment calls with guidance
- Basic understanding of B2B services, consulting, or professional services environments
- Interest in learning about government contracting, business development, or founder-led sales
