Summer Restoration Technician

Internship Responsibilities
The summer restoration technician (SRM) supports Blue Water Baltimore’s (BWB) restoration projects that improve water quality and human health. The SRM will focus on tree care and maintenance throughout the summer, but projects range from plantings, pavement removal, cistern installation, as well as tree and restoration project maintenance. Tree care and maintenance responsibilities encompass regular watering, mulching, stake removal, tree surveys, and more. This position works closely with five team members to complete projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain trees through watering, stake removal, pruning, etc.
- Work with volunteers on restoration projects
- Support green stormwater infrastructure projects
- Support pavement removal projects including lifting concrete and using a cement saw to cut
concrete - Help install cisterns and rain barrels
- Use hand tools such as shovels, pry bars, pick-axes, and stake drivers
- Equipment and tool maintenance
- Driving vehicles and trailers
- Tree and maintenance data acquisition
Qualifications
- Valid Maryland Drivers License (Ability to be insured by BWB’s insurance policy)
- Attention to detail, consistency and punctuality are required
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Applicant should be willing to work in potentially harsh conditions (i.e. hot weather, inclement
weather). - Preferred Experience: Previous landscaping or construction experience

Internship Overview
Position is a full-time, hourly, exempt summer position. Pay set at $17.50/hour. Position runs from the first week of June through the second week of September.
