News Reporter Intern
The Baltimore Banner
Internship Responsibilities
As a News Reporter intern, you will cover and array of topics— ranging from breaking news, local government, criminal justice and in-depth feature stories — allowing you to develop your reporting, writing and sourcing skills. We are looking for interns who are quick thinkers, eager to chase stories, and ready to contribute fresh, “outside-the-box” ideas. You should have a natural curiosity and be open to feedback from editors and other reporters. While you will write your own stories, you may be asked to help other reporters on their stories as well. Interns will receive assignments from editors but are also encouraged to pitch their own story ideas.
Interns will be responsible for producing content – photos, stories, and social media posts – for the local digital publication. Interns will receive assignments from editors but should also be able to generate and pitch their own interesting story ideas. We are looking for people who are quick thinkers, energetic, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Interns will be assigned a mentor and attend weekly sessions on subjects such as sourcing and interview skills.
